The experiment took place on two distinct pedestrian bridges spanning Capilano Canyon in North Vancouver. Participants were required to cross one of the two bridges, each with a woman positioned midway who was part of the research team.
The bridges differed significantly: one was a narrow suspension bridge, precariously high above jagged rocks, while the other was wider, more stable, and situated at a safer height above the water. This created two contrasting experiences—one inducing stress and the other providing a sense of safety.

Results indicated that men who traversed the more perilous bridge found the woman significantly more attractive and were more inclined to contact her.
