Recently, I embarked on a thrilling journey by joining my first book club, and I couldn't be more excited about this new venture.
As a passionate reader, I also cherish the moments spent discussing literature with other avid readers. This shared hobby allows us to breathe life into the stories we read, enhancing our overall experience. Despite my love for reading, I had never participated in a book club until now.
It’s been a mystery why I held off on joining one. I've frequently shared my thoughts on Goodreads, and discussions about books have always been part of my life. However, I felt it was time for a change.
Section 1.1: The Beginning
My journey into the world of book clubs began after graduating from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May 2022. This summer, I received an invitation to join the Alumni Book Club, and I knew I had to seize the opportunity.
I quickly signed up for this exciting new chapter, especially as they were starting to read "All the Lonely People" by Mike Gayle.
This novel revolves around a recluse named Hubert, who begins forming friendships with his neighbors while reflecting on his youthful adventures abroad.
Subsection 1.1.1: A Positive Experience
Now that we’re a few chapters in, each week we discuss the assigned chapter and address questions related to it. Everyone shares their insights and feelings about the text, creating a vibrant online discussion.
While the online format is different from what I imagined, I'm truly enjoying this experience as a newcomer to book clubs. I eagerly anticipate the unfolding journey of this book.

Participating in discussions with others who are reading the same book enriches my reading experience immensely. I look forward to continuing this journey with this title and many more in the future.
