Chapter 1: The Writer's Connection

Engagement from readers is the motivation that drives my writing endeavors. Writers often seek assurance that their expressions resonate with their audience. Are you a fellow writer? Engagement serves as feedback, and even the absence of it can be interpreted as a form of response.

In my journey with the Medium Partner Program, I’ve penned monthly reflections to maintain my writing discipline and provide insight into the experience of one among the "millions" of creators on Medium. Like many, I find myself among those who earn less than $100 monthly from my writing.

My creativity is largely guided by intuition and the interactions I have with readers, as I am often unaware of their preferences unless they share them with me—something I deeply appreciate when it happens. I have a hunch that many of my readers may not actually follow me or even be regular Medium users.

In March 2024, I noticed a drop in my follower count by 22, a trend I’ve observed intermittently. This could be part of Medium's initiative to eliminate fake or spam accounts, which I suspect has plagued my follower list at times.

When I take a brief hiatus from writing, I observe a decline in both viewership and readership. Nonetheless, I am committed to continuing my journey on Medium, as it offers a valuable platform to connect with a broader audience in real time.

This year, my emphasis is on the quality of my content rather than sheer volume. Although I might not write as frequently as I have in previous months, my intuitive approach may lead me to produce just as much in the coming months. After all, true greatness cannot be hurried.

I identify as a multifaceted creator! For the first time in quite a while, I take pride in what I’ve crafted—not only for my own growth but for the benefit of others as well.

What draws you to read blogs? This year, I am shifting from monthly recaps to monthly self-reflections. I find joy in these new reflections and hope they provide value and inspiration to you as well.
