Writers Most Likely to Inspire Laughter and Reflection

Written on

Before you consider contacting America’s Most Wanted, let me clarify that the term “suspects” is used humorously here.

The individuals listed below aren’t guilty of any serious offenses (as far as I know); they are simply writers who embody the light-hearted titles I've assigned them.

Keep reading to understand my perspective…

Medium writers often capture the attention of readers

Writers on Medium typically have unique styles and approaches when it comes to creating, sharing, and promoting their work.

Consequently, some writers become more noticeable due to their distinct traits — whether they are vocal, humorous, informative, combative, conservative, confrontational, or simply productive.

As a result, readers and fellow authors begin to form perceptions of these writers, which can be positive, negative, or a mix of both.

Personally, I enjoy reading various pieces from different authors and developing my own views based on their writing styles and content.

That’s how I compiled the list you’re about to explore. See if you resonate with these often amusing yet mostly accurate portrayals of some of my favorite Medium writers.

A few Medium authors you might recognize

The writers I mention below are likely names you are familiar with. If not, take a moment to discover how they earned their “most likely” labels.

> The votes are in! These results come from my own polling (ME), and the outcome was unanimous!

Here are the most likely writers you might know:

  1. Most likely to annoy you in various ways: David Perlmutter — [Updated viewpoint].
  2. Most likely to get frustrated: Sherry McGuinn — But don’t assume she won’t frustrate you too!
  3. Most likely to make you laugh: Michael Burg, MD (AKA Medium Michael Burg) — But you might need some patience to understand his humor (pun intended!).
  4. Most likely to evoke envy: Abena Talks, who is a remarkably productive writer managing multiple tasks with ease!
  5. Most likely to make you relate: Susan Wheelock, whose hilarious yet relatable stories hit the mark.
  6. Most likely to inspire you to achieve more: Tim Denning, a frequently referenced Top Writer to emulate.
  7. Most likely to provoke reflection: Kristina God, whose narratives prompt self-examination before casting judgment (what else could you expect from a name like “God”?).

This is merely a snapshot of the many incredible writers on Medium; there are simply too many to list!

Some Medium publications are also most likely to…

While crafting this piece, I was inspired to apply a similar theme to publications.

I mulled over some thoughts regarding popular Medium publications.

As you review this tentative list, consider publications that you believe fit these descriptors. Even better, think of other “most likely” categories for your favorite or least favorite publications.

> Here are some ideas I came up with:

  1. Most likely to publish new Medium writers
  2. Most likely to enhance your understanding of Medium
  3. Most likely to publish your Medium-related content
  4. Most likely to entice you into submitting stories
  5. Most likely to frustrate you during the submission process
  6. Most likely to help you gain more views
  7. Most likely to take the longest to publish your content

Another usual suspect most likely to…
