Struggling Through Health Challenges and Writing My Journey

Chapter 1: My Fight for Life
In my quest for a side gig in writing, I sought additional income to ease my financial burdens. Writing has always been a passion of mine. This narrative details my struggles with health and how I began to fight for my well-being. I won’t delve into all the specifics, as that would be a separate tale, but I aim to focus on the core of my experience.
My journey began with a visit to a clinic, marking the start of a long battle with illness. Despite my efforts, my condition continued to deteriorate year after year, reaching a breaking point in 2003, without any signs of improvement.
Frustrated by the lack of attention at my original clinic, I decided it was time for a change. The doctors there seemed indifferent, often dismissing my concerns. One male doctor even suggested I might have cancer, but he failed to provide me with any real answers. I found his words infuriating, leading me to confront him. My decision was made: I would no longer see male doctors.
After discussing my frustrations with my second oldest sister, she came to learn about my situation. To my dismay, the doctor had given her a different account than what he had told me. This inconsistency led to further tension within my family. Eventually, I stood my ground, informing the doctor that I would be seeking care elsewhere. He attempted to forbid me from leaving, but I was resolute. “I expect my records to be transferred to my new clinic,” I insisted.
Upon arriving at the new clinic, the doctor informed me that they hadn’t received all my medical records. I expressed my frustrations and shared my experiences in detail. Thankfully, she was understanding and committed to obtaining my information.
In 2004, while dating someone special, my new doctor decided I needed further examination in Minneapolis, MN. I informed my boyfriend about the upcoming appointment, and we made plans to travel there together.
After arriving and waiting for my turn to see the doctor, we were informed that the results were not favorable. The doctor revealed, “Every physician in your town has over-medicated you!” He expressed surprise that I hadn’t succumbed to an overdose. His advice was clear: dispose of all my medications by dissolving them in water.
Upon returning home, I followed his instructions and dissolved all my medications in a glass of water.
If you or someone you care about finds themselves in a similar predicament, please seek help immediately—whether from a friend or emergency services. Life is precious, and it’s vital to take care of yourself.
