Chapter 1: The Value of Positive Reinforcement
When was the last time someone acknowledged your goodness? Hopefully, it happens frequently—ideally, every day.

Frequently, we hear about our shortcomings, areas where we can improve, and the potential we have yet to tap into. There's often that critical voice urging us to consider perspectives other than our own. While this is certainly valuable—growth and learning are crucial—let's take a moment to reflect.
How often are you genuinely told how commendable you are? It's quite infrequent, isn't it? And when it does occur, it undeniably feels uplifting.

Many of us might claim that we don’t seek external approval. That’s why none of us were bothered when Medium’s notifications malfunctioned for a few days in late May 2024, right? And we never check that little green bell for new comments or claps, do we?
No, we’re perfectly fine without validation. We’re composed, stable individuals capable of affirming our worth and recognizing our potential for growth and learning.
However, this is a misconception. As social creatures, we thrive in the company of others. Most of us are part of a community in one form or another. Thus, when someone expresses appreciation for who we are, it truly resonates.

Having someone in your life who genuinely uplifts you is invaluable. This person offers sincere compliments, reminding you of your beauty, intelligence, capability, and worth. They highlight your strengths as a problem solver and a leader.
When you encounter someone who can amplify your qualities without any ulterior motives, you’ve found a treasure. This individual advocates for you, illuminating your strengths when you might be reluctant to see them yourself.
If you have someone who consistently acknowledges your goodness, consider yourself fortunate. Appreciate them. Let them know they are valued, respected, cherished, and loved.
This bond is a rare gift, and one day, you might find yourself in the position to offer similar encouragement to someone else.

Embrace the good within yourself and recognize it in others.
The end.
