Chapter 1: The Cost of Time
Our most valuable asset, aside from our intellect, is undoubtedly time.

I decided to cancel my Netflix subscription since I found myself not utilizing it. While I might return to it in the future, currently, I refrain from indulging in lengthy TV series. I know that once I discover a captivating show, I’ll become engrossed, and my time will slip away, hindering my progress toward personal goals.
There's always a new series vying for our attention, and if we search long enough, we'll surely find something that captivates us completely. Television can be likened to a drug; it alleviates our stress, pain, and worries. While it may offer temporary pleasure and distraction, it comes at the cost of our most precious resource: time.
Subscriptions to TV services, social media, mobile devices, and the internet can add up. The reason? Your time is invaluable, and these platforms demand a significant portion of it.
For instance, depending on your plan, Hulu could cost around $100 a month, accumulating to about $1,200 annually. However, the true cost lies in the hours lost that could be better spent pursuing your aspirations.
Section 1.1: The Television Trap
Statistics from A.C. Nielsen Co. reveal that the average American devotes over four hours daily to watching TV—equating to 28 hours weekly or two months of continuous viewing each year. This statistic represents only the average; many find themselves glued to the screen the moment they finish work, often drifting off to sleep with the TV still on. This routine can last a lifetime, and suddenly, you may find yourself at 60 years old, realizing how quickly time has passed.
Our tendency to escape our realities stems from our dissatisfaction with our lives. But why are we dissatisfied? Often, it’s because we lack the motivation to cultivate the life we truly desire.
Subsection 1.1.1: The Allure of Reality TV
The popularity of reality television, including platforms like YouTube and social media, highlights our collective desire to escape our own existences. Since the advent of television, we’ve had the luxury of being entertained from the comfort of our homes. This has led to an unprecedented availability of content, resulting in a surge of TV addicts.
Chapter 2: Are You Supporting Their Dreams?
Many of the individuals you see on television and social media are actively pursuing their dreams. The real question is: what about you? Are you focusing on your aspirations, or are you merely contributing to someone else's?
Watching television, unless for educational purposes, rarely propels you from point A to point Z; it usually keeps you stagnated at point A.
Get up and take action. The allure of TV, smartphones, apps, and subscriptions can ensnare you and drain your time daily if you let them. However, you always have a choice. You can remain where you are or strive to move forward. The decision is yours to make.
