The Joy of Affordable Computer Games: A Comedic Perspective

Chapter 1: The Allure of Free Games
Computer games serve as delightful diversions in the journey of life. They provide an enjoyable means of escaping from more productive tasks, often becoming both entertaining and habit-forming. While there's a common argument that these games enhance cognitive abilities, I have yet to find any substantial proof to back that claim online. Nevertheless, this is my perspective, and I stand by it.
When I refer to computer games, I'm not talking about high-end titles like Minecraft or Age of Empires. My focus is on the free options, such as Klondike Solitaire, Mah Jong, or those captivating word games that don’t cost a dime. I consider myself thrifty and refuse to spend any money on games for my PC. My leisure time should be enjoyable without costing me anything.
Despite indulging in these games, I am acutely aware of the tasks I’m neglecting. My apartment floor is a veritable carpet of cat hair, and a Swiffer duster could easily remedy that situation. The dishes piling up in the sink won’t clean themselves, and there are humorous articles waiting to be written. Even with this knowledge, I find it all too easy to dive into a Word Search or Mah Jong game, allowing time to slip away. I admit, I’m that type of person.
I shouldn’t be proud of this. In fact, I hesitate to mention it at all. However, I did once achieve Level 155 in the Microsoft Solitaire Collection’s Classic Solitaire game, earning me the title of Grandmaster 5, if I’m not mistaken. This accomplishment wasn’t achieved by avoiding the game; rather, it reflects my dedication to it. Ironically, my other pursuits haven’t seen the same level of success lately. This should serve as a wake-up call, but it hasn’t.
To justify my gaming habits, I find it necessary to convince myself that they offer some benefits. This allows me to indulge without the burden of guilt, which can dampen the enjoyment of playing Klondike Solitaire or tackling a crossword puzzle.
While I'd love to expand on this topic further, there's a Word Search game calling my name.
